Hinton Ampner is a National Trust property near Alresford, Hampshire. I visited on a summers day for a look around.

First stop was the walled gardens and how very beautiful they were.

As it was a beautifully sunny day, I was tempted by the 4 mile nature walk around the local countryside.

I lost the way towards the end and with no signal, I had to wing it. Just as I caught sight of the house through the trees, the clouds rolled in and the heavens opened. Lesson for the day: take a waterproof everywhere. My only choice was to take shelter underneath the trees till it passed, which thankfully wasn’t too long.

4 miles takes longer to walk than first expected, so I had missed the chance to have a look around the house. I had a look around the outside and took some photos before they closed the gates.

It was a shame that I didn’t get to look around the house itself but there’s always next time!
